Ice scraper

At the bullwheel nearly always so-called "ice scrapers" are installed. (The ice scraper is the dark blue metal in the picture.)

The ice scapers are there to prevent the creation of a layer of ice or dust in the sheaver liner by which the rope may derail from the bullwheel.
