The lift was built for the season 88-89 and was ready to drive in the begining of 89.
The Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf was in Åre the 3 of march in 1989 and held the opening of the Olympiagondolen.
The lift was originally built with 20 pillars but a few years after the opening was the 21st pillar built between pillar no. 12 and 13. The new pillar was named pillar no. 12A. |
